Wenger's Transfer Shopping List. Hopefully.
Many people's opinion is that a striker should be the crux of our concentration in the market. Certainly, with Giroud crocked, our reliance has shifted to yet to return Theo, an acclimatising Sanchez, and raw Campbell and Sanogo. I am of the mindset that another striker would be a great addition but our vast array of choices and interchanging approach is sufficient enough to see us through. Let us have a delve into the potential targets:
EDINSON CAVANI
This will not happen. Due to the constraints placed on PSG by the FFP, they are unable to purchase without letting a big earner go. The preferred choice for disposal is part-time stud Ezequiel Lavezzi. Cavani, despite an underwhelming 16 goals last season, still would attract a massive fee, due to his contract running until 2018. A reason why he netted such a meagre amount considering his vast array of talents is Laurent Blanc's insistence on playing him out wide. He can perform out there but alarm bells ring when after one season being played out wide noises emanate from his agent and club that he is trying to engineer a move away. Doesn't bode well for a conducive team-spirit. Either way, it would seem he is staying put for now.
MARCO REUS
An absolute dream. A typical WengerBall player. Adaptable, clever, supremely talented and ridiculously young. His playing hero is our very own Rosicky and he is one of the numerous faces of PUMA - all plus signs. Bringing us back to earth is the fact his contract runs until 2017, he is courted by Barca and Bayern and the transfer fee would surely dwarf the monies we paid for Ozil and Sanchez. He scored 23 from 44 apps last season, playing on the left wing. Could quite easily be adapted to CF and would be a great foil for a returning Giroud, a fantastic target for Ozil and a sumptuous prospect for fans. Now back from injury, hopefully he is in Wenger's thoughts.
Honourable mentions go to Julian Draxler, Falcao and Lacazette. Draxler being the more probable of the three but all would serve as a fantastic addition.
To surmise, we know nothing of Arsene's shopping list or where Dick Law is. We know absolutely diddly of who will be flying into Colney. Now the fabled chequebook has been freed and we are now unshackled from stadium debt, any target can now be whispered of with the faintest semblance of truth. This next week maybe the difference between Arteta holding the Premiership aloft and agonising failure. Perhaps. We know nothing. We can only dream.
