Is Aubameyang Arsenal's new Henry?

New Arsenal signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored more league goals on the counter-attack since he joined Borussia Dortmund in 2013 than most Premier League clubs have in the same period, stats from daily fantasy football game Oulala.com reveal.
We have taken a closer look at what Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will bring to Arsenal and one stat stands out more than any other, his ability to score on the counter-attack.
Since 2013, the Gabon striker has netted 15 goals in the Bundesliga from counter-attacks. In the same period, Arsenal have managed just 10 goals from counter-attacks. In fact, only four Premier League clubs (Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Leicester City) have scored more counter-attacking goals than Aubameyang since he joined Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal tried to Jamie Vardy who has netted a respectable 11 goals from counter-attacks in the Premier League, so it appears Arsene Wenger is looking to adopt a more direct style at Arsenal - returning to the style of football that brought him so much success in his first decade at the club.
Once the masters of the counter-attack, Arsenal have lacked the speed and incisiveness to pull it off since Thierry Henry left for Barcelona. Theo Walcott had an excellent record for Arsenal despite his many detractors but the majority of his goals came from a wide position. Landing Aubameyang, a player with a similar playing style to Thierry, could be a step in the right direction to life after Alexis Sanchez and a return to a more exciting brand of football at the Emirates.
