Wembley! The famous Arsenal will be making their way to Wembley after a brilliant victory over Everton. The season that was supposed to be imploding suddenly looks pretty healthy again, as the Gunners overcame a very tricky Everton side. The final score was a little harsh on Everton and on me as I stood to win a very nice bet at 3-1! But it doesn’t matter one bit as we inched closer to a shot at FA Cup glory.
Arsenal’s poor form at the Britannia Stadium continued as the Gunner’s abject performance resulted in a 1-0 defeat. Truly, I don’t think we deserved to lose the game, Stoke weren’t exactly all over us and didn’t really play better than us. They got the decisions though. While the main fault lies squarely with us, the referee gave Stoke three gifts that ultimately decided the game. Chelsea winning and Man City now having two games in hand on us means it’s a huge blow to our title hopes. Couple that with Liverpool’s result at Southampton and it’s already a weekend to forget.
The Premier League returned this weekend after a break for the FA Cup and it was a return to winning ways for Arsenal, following defeat against Bayern. Arsenal turned up with purpose and intent, Sunderland turned up with their minds firmly fixed on the League Cup final next Sunday. It was like a training session for the Gunners and was the perfect tonic after a difficult few weeks.
