Match Review: Arsenal 1 Besiktas 0 - Champions League - 27.08.14

There were a lot of nervous people about before the game on Wednesday night. I, however, was perfectly calm and confident and I don’t know why more people weren’t. Besiktas, while a competent and well drilled side, shouldn’t really be terrifying us at home, we should be dominating and in the main we did that. The only thing missing were the goals to make it more comfortable. Despite that, we still weren’t at our best and at times were fortunate not to concede, but I don’t think anyone can say we didn’t deserve to go through across the two legs.

Match Review: Everton 2 Arsenal 2 - Premier League 23.08.14

I think the best word to describe our start to the season would be stuttering. Saturday’s game was a real struggle for us and for most of it, it looked like we were going to be condemned to our first defeat of the campaign. But a very late show saved us and despite three very average performances, we’re yet to lose. What is very clear though, is that we really need to sort ourselves out both on the pitch and in terms of transfers. Our next five Premier League fixture see games against Man City, Sp*rs and a daunting away trip to Chelsea. If we don’t make the right additions and we continue to play so disjointedly, we will not get many points from those games.

Match Review: Besiktas 0 Arsenal 0 - Champions League - 19.03.14

A difficult night for the Gunners ended in a scoreless draw. On a pitch that resembled a cattle grazing field and in a typically hostile atmosphere in Turkey, we were frustrated, but in the end came away with a decent result, all things considered. Besiktas were very physical, but unlike Crystal Palace, posed a genuine threat up top with Demba Ba and former Arsenal man Ozyakup testing our defence.
