World-Class Monreal Commits Future To Gunners

Today Arsenal Football Club announced the extension of Nacho Monreal's contract. The Spanish international is thought to have signed on for three more years taking his contract to 2019.

The 29 year old left-back, who enjoyed a good spell at centre-back last season which many are crediting for him improved defensive ability, has made over 80 Premier League appearances for the Arsenal.

Nacho has become a crowd favourite thanks to his consistent displays and is arguably the best left-back in the league. Together with Bellerin on the opposite flank Arsenal can boast to having one of the, if not the, best fullback pairings in the league. Combined with the regular partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, ably supported by Gabriel, Monreal and his compatriot on the opposite flank have helped Arsenal to 10 clean sheets in the league this season.

With the new arrival of Mohamed Elneny and the impending return of injured players the news of Monreal's new contract, which is expected to be followed by announcements of other senior extensions, this could be one of Arsenal's most significant January's in years.
