Reinforcements Required, Cup Final & That Trophy Primate

This is just my opinion.  Don't get sand in your ars*hole.

A 1-0 win Vs Pepe Mels' West Brom in our last home game this season which I regrettably wasn't able to attend brings about a 7pt gap over Everton in 5th but also closes the gap on Chelski. Ollies' winning goal was his 22nd this season. Not bad for a sub-standard misfit who's been flogged harder than players in a Felix Magath training session. When he's in a bad mood. In the rain. Whilst wearing Ye Olde Diving Suits. You get the picture. The boy dun good. Where does this leave us?

Now the season draws its curtains as the World Cup rears its golden head over the horizon, it's inevitable that talk would surface about our successes, failures, weaknesses and strengths. The talk before the aforementioned game wasn't the usual debate over formation, player inclusion or injury lay-offs.  It was mainly transfer talk. The social networks were awash with speculation, the ITK's, still in hibernation mode, awoke and immediately released swarms of rumours and talk of contract lengths, transfer fees and chinese whispers.  "Hot News! Cesc has been spotted in Ashburton Grove! He was carrying a pack of Capt Birdseye Fish Fingers so he's meeting up with agents from Grimsby to finalise a deal! More to come!"

I think any self respecting fan who frequents the seedy backstreet bar that is Twitter knows to take any rumour that is emblazoned across our screens with a mighty pile of salt. It is hard to not get a little bit carried away, especially if the same player gets mentioned more often than I search for Brazilian Fart Porn on t'internet.

It's been highlighted, indeed even in my last blog, that our lack of depth up top has cost us dearly. I'm of the opinion, much like a lot of others, that if Theo had stayed fit, we would still be competing in the League. Ollie has battled gamely, but his lack of mobility has cost us. In my last blog I mentioned a few names (Reus, Balotelli and Mandzukic) that could aid our ailing attack. It does require our manager to spend, something which has been markedly pointed out repeatedly that he is reluctant to do.  Does the Ozil signing mark a watershed? I'd like to think so. He states that if the right player becomes available then he will do what needs to be done. Let's hope Klopp falls out with Marko soon then. What about elsewhere though?

The departure of our RB stalwart Bacary Sagna depresses me. Since 2007 he has worn the right side of our pitch down to the grassbed. Even with two broken legs (not simultaeneously, that WOULD be something), he has recovered and still shown the standard required. I realise that this is his last opportunity to cash in, to milk the last operational teat from the cash cow, but I can't imagine Wenger is offering to pay him in BlackJacks and Fruit Salads.

It was reported that he's been offered £80k pw on a 2yr deal. There's been reports surfacing about Citeh rearing their oil-sauteed heads as well. If Citeh have come in and offered him £150k pw then he'll be in sky blue next season. I wonder if he has contemplated the alternative, signing up with us again. He could end his career with us. He could get a testimonial, he could further cement the respect and admiration that we clearly lavish upon him. Or he could quit for cash. I lament the modern game, I really f*cking do. I won't hate him if he leaves though. He always gave everything, he could've quite easily left when all our top players were jumping ship, but he stood firm.
